I am a "newbie" to the world of blogging. My passion lies in the creation of wearable art. I do not have many photos at this time as I need to hone my skills as a photographer!!!
The necklace depicted in the photo on the left was created for my daughter for Christmas. There is a wonderful story to it.
Four years ago, we lost my mother to cancer. My daughter Stacey, while at University, decided that Friday nights would be "date nights" with her grandmother. They would dine together and then plunge into one of their favorite activities: doing a jigsaw puzzle. My mother truly was a cornerstone in her life...
This is what inspired this piece. Pieces of silver were hand sawed and sanded in the shape of jigsaw puzzle pieces... all of them "corner pieces". Each was textured and my mother's favorite sayings were stamped into each piece. A patina was then applied to give them an antique look, and the center of each piece was hand polished so that the letters of each saying would stand out.
I then proceeded to create the chain, which was eventually attached to viking weave (woven silver wire) and the findings were added. Various charms and gemstones were added to the finished project.
I know that she loves it and will treasure it forever... Needless to say, there were tears!!!
